How long have you been in business?
American Plating Company has been in St. Louis since 1944.
What is your primary product or service?
We provide metal polishing and plating services.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I worked for many years as an engineer for a large corporation. You could say that I've always been fascinated with details- seeing how individual elements of a process worked together to form something new. In 2004, the previous owner of American Plating Company decided that it was time to retire so he put the company on the market. I simply couldn't resist the opportunity to be a part of this historic St. Louis company.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Quality over quantity. Some businesses exist to grow and expand into new markets. We don't serve every market segment, but those we do serve receive the very best service and product results that this industry has to offer.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location, with no immediate plans to expand physically. Our capability and overall quality always has room to expand.
Provide detailed directions to your location
East-bound on the 64/40 Interstate: Take exit 37B. Turn left onto S. Grand. After approximately 1/2 mile, turn left onto Park Ave. Our building is on the left at the corner of Park Ave and Carr Ln Ave. West-bound on the 64/40 Interstate: Take exit 38A. Follow the road until you can turn left on S. Grand. After approximately 1/2 mile, turn left onto Park Ave. Our building is on the left at the corner of Park Ave and Carr Ln Ave.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept all forms of payment with the exception of I.O.U.s. That includes: credit (Visa & Master Card), checks and (of course) cash.
Which areas do you service?
Because our shop is small, we focus on small-order repeat industrial metal plating and custom residential work (refinishing antiques and sentimental items).
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Dean Pearch maintains the office. Pam (unofficially) keeps an eye on things in the shop.
What are your hours of operation?
Office hours are from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday-Friday. Production typically begins at 7:00am and may carry over to the weekend for certain jobs.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
The best compliment a person could give would be stunned silence as they admire a finished product followed by repeat business.
