The Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Galleries
Right in the heart of Grand Center, the thriving and growing home for the arts in St. Louis, sits an historic building, built in 1912,that in recent years has emerged as "the place" to hear great music. The Sheldon Concert Hall is intimate and acoustically perfect, making it a favorite for musicians and audiences alike.
The mission of the Sheldon Art Galleries is to promote the appreciation of the visual arts by presenting high-quality and diverse exhibitions in an intimate setting; to present a broad range of genres that inspire discovery, learning and wonder which engage the St. Louis community and beyond with changing exhibitions and programs; and to support the Sheldon Arts Foundation's mission by fostering both music and the visual art.
Maintaining such a jewel for the past 101 years has not been without its challenges.
Today, we offer over 130 concerts in the Sheldon Concert Hall, including top artists in jazz, folk and classical music, plus blues, bluegrass, gospel, Celtic and world music. We present over 20 exhibitions each year in our Sheldon Art Galleries that attract both new and seasoned art lovers who are impressed with the quality and diversity of our visual arts programming. We annually welcome 20,000 school-aged children from throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area who participate in our education programs and leave The Sheldon amazed and excited by their contact with live music and great art.
