• A residential treatment program that ensures that the youth we serve are provided with a safe and secure environment with the necessary care and professional therapeutic services they need to heal and develop. Approximately 85 youth – most of whom are 14-18 years of age – are served annually in this program. In 2008, over 80 per cent of our residents made significant improvements as demonstrated by improved functioning and a decrease in their risk factors.
• A special education program that serves youth with behavioral and emotional disorders who require a higher level of intervention because they have been removed from community classrooms due to disruptive behavior and emotional outbursts. At St. Vincent school, we help them learn to make positive decisions in stressful situations. We also strengthen their educational opportunities with the ultimate goal of returning them to a traditional classroom setting. During the past school year, the school served 94 special needs students with 70 per cent of them increasing their math skills by an average of one year and three months and 50 per cent increasing their reading ability by one grade level.
