How long have you been in business?

What is your primary product or service?
Promoting our member businesses by offering them many opportunities to advertise or promote their business. Products include a map of Affton and every 2 years we publish a Community Directory/Buyer's Guide with many pages of public service contact numbers along with our members listed alphabetical and by business type.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I belonged to the Affton Chamber as a business owner of a secretarial service since 1989 and when the previous executive director retired in 1998, I applied and was hired as executive director. As the owner of a secretarial service, my background was detail oriented.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We offer many promotional and advertising opportunities for our members. About 75% of our members have 15 or less employees, so our sponsorships and promotional opportunities are kept very affordable. Our web site is usually updated daily to keep people informed. The blogs go into more detail about what may be happening in our area or in the chamber.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We moved to our new location in December 2012 and the building offers room for expansion.

On Mackenzie Road between Reavis Road and I-55. Our building is .2 south of Reavis Road and 1. mile north of I-55 at the Reavis Barracks Road exit. Our building is directly in front of the Affton Community Center.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash, check, credit cards; e.g., American Express, Discover, MasterCard, & Visa.
Which areas do you service?
The 63123 zip code area, plus the surrounding area for those businesses interested in belonging to our chamber. We encourage businesses outside 63123 to check out what we have to offer to see if it is a good fit before they join.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
The Executive Director runs the daily operations, with a Board of 18 members making policy and overseeing the running of the chamber. They are a working board, meaning they actually chair or co-chair the committees. The members are the actual owners.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday thru Friday from 9 am to 1 pm. We close every day from 1-2 pm for lunch and on many weekdays from 2-5 someone is in the office, but we encourage people to call first. The only day when there is an exception to these hours is the 2nd Thursday of each month when we are closed from 10 am to 2 pm to set up and attend the general membership meetings.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
That the chamber has helped grow their business. We love testimonials.
